Bring on the Christmas cheer! This year, in The Marietta Square, is the 5th Annual Christmas in July and 5k Flamingo Run! It's a great way to spread some cheer and kindness while we still have the warmth of the Georgia sun! Instead of standing outside, huddled close in our heavy coats waiting for Santa, we can enjoy the nice summer breeze while waiting to visit Jolly Ol' Saint Nick!
To kick off the day, the Square will be hosting the Flamingo 5k Run, with options for a 1k and a tot trot as well. This run is open to anyone, whether an adult or a youngin'! The next event is a VIP Breakfast with Santa in Marlow House, but be quick; there are only 30 spots available. From 9 am to 1 pm is arts and crafts, raffles, and DJ entertainment. You get to take time to chill out and enjoy the bright sun!
The second half of the day starts off with Santa visiting the Square for pictures, starting at 10 am and going until noon. Bring the kiddos (or even the teens) for a fun pic with Santa Claus himself! Later in the afternoon will be a charity wine tasting at the Marietta Wine Market. There's fun for the adults, too!
All day during the event will be readings of Elf on the Shelf every hour. The children will love these books! They are a classic Christmas tradition. Throughout the day, the "Fur Bus" will be collecting new toys and cash donations to prepare for Christmas. As well as both of these events, there will be a large variety of merchants that are offering discounts and deals to prepare for the chilly season! It's never too early to Christmas shop, right?
In addition to all the events going on this wonderful day, Pie Bar will be participating by featuring some of our most popular winter flavors! My personal favorite, Chocolate Peppermint Cream, will certainly win over the crowd. Another popular winter flavor is our Spiced Oatmeal Cookie Pie, which is a classic for Christmas. And a special flavor brought around just a few times: the Cranberry Apple Crumble Pie. It's a wonderful mix of sweet and tart with the fruit and crumble topping. Christmas in July is a special event that gets adults and kids alike excited for winter to come around! As much as we love the Georgia sun, the winter breeze here is just as fun.
