Scarecrows in the Square & Harvestfest 2022

October is upon us! coming October 15th is the annual fall celebration Harvestfest! There will be tons of events, including a pie-eating contest, Scarecrows in the Square, and arts and crafts! Let's take a tour, shall we?

First up is the second annual Pie-Eating Contest! Pie Bar is presenting a Traditional Pumpkin Pie with a sweetened whipped cream topping. Contestants will have to devour a pie, and whoever finishes first gets a prize from Pie Bar! All Mini Munchers (ages 6 to 12) will receive a free slice of pie! For the Competitive Chompers (13 & up), there will be three prizes. Third place will be a Pie Bar t-shirt and a free slice of pie. Second place will be a Pie Bar t-shirt, a free slice of pie, a Pie Bar diner mug, and a free cup of coffee. First place - drum roll please - will be a gift certificate for a whole sweet pie (you heard me right!), a Pie Bar t-shirt, a Pie Bar diner mug, and a free cup of coffee. This will give some fun motivation to win! The contest for Mini Munchers is at 11:30 am, and the Competitive Chompers will be at 12:00 pm. Have fun! You can register on the website by clicking here!

Next stop: Scarecrows in the Square! This year, Pie Bar will be presenting a Sweeney Todd-inspired scarecrow, based on the song "The Worst Pies in London" from the movie. The song describes the meat pies shown in the movie. This is perfect to highlight our Take 'n' Bake Savory Pies! The Beef and Mushroom Pot Pies (which come in 6" and 10") are the most similar to the meat pies in the movie, so check out our newest addition to the savory collection! Last year, we won Best Business Scarecrow with our Four and Twenty Blackbirds-inspired scarecrow, nicknamed Travis by former team member Elizabeth. Travis truly was an iconic addition to the Square! Stop by the Square and see if you can peep at our Sweeney Todd scarecrow!

If you look to your right, you'll see the Costume Contest! Any kiddos 12 and under get to participate! There will be first, second, and third place prizes for each age category, listed on the Harvestfest website. Children get to show off their cool costumes for Halloween '22! The children's contest will be held at 1:30 pm, giving them plenty of time to wake up, eat breakfast, and get changed with a little extra time to sleep in. At 3:00 pm is the pet costume contest! That's right - there's a contest for your PETS! Bring your furry (or not so furry) friend in their best Halloween costume! There will be first, second, and third place prizes. Show off your awesome costumes, and have fun!

On your left is the Halloween Happenings Kid's Festival and Touch-a-Truck! These all-day events are open to children, and Touch-a-Truck is open to anyone! Halloween Happenings will have carnival games and trick-or-treating, so bring on those candy bags (or if you're like me, pillowcases)! Touch-a-Truck will host several service vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, and tow trucks. Have a chat with the operators of each vehicle and learn a little bit about each one! Remember kids, make sure you go over safety protocols with your local firefighter!

The final stop is the Harvestfest Market - an arts and crafts festival! Check out the many vendors that will be showcasing their work. There will be paintings, drawings, glasswork, and more! Everyone will have business cards as well, and some offer custom work, so you can snag a card and get some custom artwork done!

This year's Harvestfest has a TON going on, so come check it out! Pie Bar will be open 11 am - 9 pm, so after dinner (or for lunch) you can come to grab a slice of pie! Children and adults alike from the Pie-Eating Contest can redeem their free slices and free coffee as well! Hope to see y'all there!
