July Family Festival

July Happenings in Marietta

By: Abby A, Pie Bar Marietta

July is definitely the time of year here in Georgia that the heat usually comes around, but it seems to have come early! Even if it is scorching hot outside, there are plenty of things to do to get that tan on while exploring the Square.

A great to kick off the month is the 4th of July Celebration in the Square! Beginning the celebration is a parade at 10 am that showcases marching bands from Marietta, scouts, local businesses, and more. Following the parade are fun events for children and concerts. When it gets dark (probably around 9:30, to be honest), there will be fireworks! There will also be plenty of shops open around the Square to enjoy lunch or dinner. Make sure to bring your sunscreen!

Red Hare is a good friend of ours, so we love to show them some love! On July 16th, they are hosting an event called Dog Days of Summer. There will be live music and cocktails and food inspired by pups of all kinds! There will even be doggy pools for your fur babies to cool off in! The event is held from 2-7 pm, and the best part is that it's FREE! All you have to do is bring your puppies and let them swim and cool off!

Something for the kiddos is the Children Fun Fest and Vendor Show on July 29th. There will be bounce houses, games, and other entertainment for children to enjoy! You can bring school supplies and backpacks to donate to Kids Care of Cobb County to help children in need this school year. There will be events indoors and outdoors, so if you get hot, you can step inside and cool down for a bit. The event is free and so is the parking! (When you're an adult, that's exciting!).

There are plenty of ways to spend your July in the Square! And of course, make a trip to Pie Bar while you're in the area. We've got some wonderfully refreshing pies this summer!
